Slowly, the snow spreads a sheet of silent white across the earth, and the world opens another clean page. I push open the window; the piercing cold rushes in, and I know it is heaven and earth breathing.
At night I often gaze into the sky. Streetlamps and moonlight answer one another, their soft radiance appearing and fading, carrying a faint and secluded calm. If daylight leaves us worn, the night smooths our sharp edges. In sleep, every weariness is covered as though by snow, while life waits to kindle warmth again.
In the morning, an unbroken whiteness lies beyond the window. Its wonder makes no distinctions; it offers itself generously to everyone. The roads may soon be cleared, and passing footsteps may quickly soil the snow, yet its purity remains in the hearts of those willing to pause and look. Beauty may be fleeting, but those who know how to behold it will always remain.
If a life could be grounded in a single color, I would choose white as its first hue. May you find a little quiet and tenderness within this field of snow.
