There are little more than ten days until the Lunar New Year. Perhaps many of us have grown accustomed to Spring Festival arriving as it always does, just as we have grown accustomed to the cold of winter.
On ordinary days, hurrying down the street, what we feel most keenly is the wind cutting through us. Only after stepping into a warm room do we shed our heavy coats and settle into comfort.
But if, around noon, there happens to be a little time, step outside and stand for a while in the warmth of the sun. Let your fingers touch the sleeve that has grown faintly warm. That trace of warmth may seem insignificant, yet it is enough to soften the winter's solitude, leaving in the heart only the quiet joy and beauty of this moment.
Before long, another year will arrive. At some gathering, perhaps tenderness and delight will rise around us, bringing a brief season of happiness.
Time hurries on, and people and circumstances change. We may have grown accustomed to the rhythm of living, but life can still be allowed a little flavor.
