Through all our comings and goings, each of us seeks something. And where seeking begins, so does the heart’s unrest.
As a child, I once asked myself what kind of person I wished to become. Fame and fortune had their charms, but they were not what I longed for. More than anything, I wanted to be wise.
What I did not understand then was that it takes courage to carry wisdom. Before I was ready, I had already set out upon the path of seeking, and so came to know more than a little of sorrow and pain.
In a lifetime, we are bound to get many things wrong. Yet there are always a few we get right. A few are enough: a handful of clear awakenings, a few choices made with open eyes, can change the course of all the years to come.
Only, do not abandon the journey halfway. Once the seed of what you believe in has begun to sprout, give it time, and give yourself a little patience. The person you hope to become is still unfolding.
If life must always reach for something, then you who walk this road, remember: what you seek is also making its way toward you. You wait for your dreams to come true; your dreams, too, are waiting for you, longing for your own hands to bring them to life.
May every wish come into bloom. May you and I be well.
